3.3.19.1 Hydraulic Master Cylinders.  Both master cylinders, located
under chassis, and master cylinder for actuator assembly, located on lower
lunette, shall be filled to operating level with brake fluid conforming to
MIL-B-46176 as specified in the applicable drawing, specification or
lubrication order.
3.3.19.2 Air Lines Connections and Air Reservoir Tank. Air reservoir
tank shall be drained of all condensate and interior surfaces atomize sprayed
with lubricating oil conforming to grade 10 of MIL-L-21260. Drain plugs and
threaded areas shall be coated with the same grade of lubricating oil and
plugs reinstalled. Drain valves shall be closed. Exposed ends of service air
lines and dummy couplings shall be covered with tape conforming to type IV,
PPP-T60. Air line filters shall be drained and closed. Exhaust ports of
relay emergency quick release and relay valves shall be closed by inserting
plastic plugs conforming to MIL-C-5501 or sealed with tape conforming to the
IV, PPP-T-60. A warning tag, bearing the information "EXHAUST PORTS OF BRAKE
RELAY VALVES SEALED - REMOVE PLUGS OR TAPE BEFORE OPERATING BRAKES", shall be
securely attached to the ends of the air line hoses.
3.3.20 Air Lines, Lighting Cable, Safety Chains and Wheel Chocks. Air
line hoses, lighting cable and safety chains shall be wrapped around upper or
lower lunette or dispenser chassis. Connectors at end of air lines shall be
secured in dunmy couplings under chassis. Connector on lighting cable shall
ber secured in retaining clamp under chassis. Hooks on ends of safety chains
shall be secured in position on each side of trailer. (Two shackles shall be
removed and stored in OVE storage box, see 3.3.5.). Hoses, cable and chains
shall be secured in place with tape conforming to type IV of PPP-T-97, 3/4
inch width. Tape shall completely encircle the dispenser member to which it
is attached and overlap approximately six inches. Hoses and cable shall have
a bend of not less than 12 inch radius when wrapped around dispenser member.
Dust cap shall be positioned on connector located on dispenser behind
lunettes. Wheel chocks and chains shall be attached to the corresponding
brackets on the rear of the dispenser chassis. Secure chocks and chains in
place with tape, PPP-T-97, as above.
3.3.21 Batteries and Cables. Both dry charged batteries (without
electrolyte) shall be installed and secured in battery boxes. Battery posts,
cable terminals and exposed parts of cables shall be sparingly coated with
P-n grease and secured to battery box with 3/4 inch tape conforming to type
IV of PPP-T-97. (Do not connect cable terminals to battery posts.) Filler
cap openings (when applicable) shall be sealed by placing a 2 inch wide by 3
mil thick sheet of film, conforming to type II of MIL-B-22191, over all filler
cap openings with cap removed. The sheet shall be of sufficient length to
allow sheet to be depressed into the filler cap opening to the same depths as
the filler plug. Filler caps shall be screwed or inserted into filler
openings to form a complete seal without damaging the sheet. Close and secure
battery covers.
