3.4.3.1.1.2 Range selectors. The DU shall provide two
thumbwheel switches for the selection of range for use with XM439
fuzes. Selectable ranges shall include 0.5 to 6.0 kilometers.
Switch settings below 0.5 km shall be interpreted as 0.5 km and
settings between 6.1 and 6.9 km shall be interpreted as 6.0 km.
An eighth position of the most significant switch shall be
included for the automatic range selection. Table 1 shows the
time of function for each setting. In the "A" position of the
most significant switch, the RMS will accept range data from the
Fire Control Computer (FCC). In the absence of or failure of an
FCC, the RMS will revert to a default range setting of 3.0 km.
