3.2.13 Traveling ring. The traveling ring shall rotate on the
traveling ring cam without binding.
3.2.14 Traveling ring cam. The traveling ring cam shall rotate
on the feeder shaft without binding.
3.2.15 Timing pin. The timing pin shall engage the timing
hole in the drive gear to correctly position the feeder gears tor
mounting the feeder on a properly timed gun. The timing pin shall
move through its full range of travel without binding and shall be
returned and held in the retracted position by action of the spring.
3.2.16 Solenoid assembly. The solenoid assembly shall be
fastened securely to the support by the self locking nuts. The
armature plate shall rotate through theits full range of travel with-
out binding.
3.2.16.1 Solenoid operation. The solenoid shall actuate the
feeder actuating shaft to declutch the feeder when 22 to 32 volts
direct current applied to the solenoid. When the solenoid is
de-energized it shall allow the feeder actuating shaft to return to
its normal extended postion under spring action of the lever shaft.
3.2.16.2 Solenoid dielectric withstanding voltage. Solenoid
assemblies shall withstand 1,200 volts root mean square at a fre-
quency of 60 hertz for 5 seconds without disruptive discharge or
deterioration.
3.2.16.3 Electrical circuit. The electrical circuit wiring of
the solenoid to the connector shall be in accordance with the appli-
cable drawing.
3.2.16.2 Insulation sleeve. The insulation sleeve shall be
securely retained in the connector and shall terminate at the sole-
noid as specified on the applicable drawing.
3.2.17 Timing. The relationship of the sprockets to the feeder
gear shall be within the limits specified on the applicable drawing
and shall provide for smooth transfer of rounds from the ammunition belt
to the gun hand-off position.
3.2.18 Torque. The torque required to rotate the feeder shaft
in the feeder assembly without ammunition shall not be more than 20
ounce-inches.
3.3 Performance Characteristics.
