MIL-F-50532A(MI)
4.4.6 Electrical resistance of setback assembly. The electrical
resistance shall be measured between the points specified in 3.5.1 using
test equipment specified in 4.3.4. The test shall be performed with the
leaves in each of the specified positions. The assembly shall be classed
defective if one or both resistance measurements fail to meet the
specified requirements.
4.4.7 Graze functioning.
The assembly shall be examined
to assure proper positioning of the locking shaft and graze level.
Prior to testing the assembly shall provide means to insure against
damage to the firing pin and the rotor when the firing pin is release
during the functioning phase of this test. The armed assembly shall be
mounted on a horizontal centrifuge with the longitudinal axis of the
assembly lying along a path of radial acceleration, and the base end pointed
towards the center of rotation. The center of gravity is defined as a
point 0.50 inches from the base end of the assembly. The minimum
non-functioning acceleration shall be applied and maintained for the
minimum time period specified. Observation shall be made for non-functioning
or functioning. If the assembly has not functioned, the acceleration
shall be increased until functioning occurs or until the maximum
functioning acceleration is attained. The assembly shall be classed
defective if it functions (firing pin is released) during the non-
functioning phase or if it fails to function during the functioning
phase.
4.4.8 Operation of setback assembly.
*
4.4.8,1 Non-functioning.  The assembly shall be mounted on a
horizontal centrifuge with the longitudinal axis of the assembly
lying along a path of radial acceleration, and the base end pointed
away from the center of rotation. The minimum non-arming acceleration
shall be applied for the minimum time specified and observation made
for functioning or non-functioning. The assembly shall be classed
defective if the setback assembly functions during the non-functioning
phase. The center of gravity of the assembly is defined as a point
0.35 inches from the base end of the assembly.
4.4.8.2 Functioning time.
The assembly shall be mounted as
in 4.4.8.1. The test equipment shall lock leaf number 3 in the
fully safe position and the required acceleration applied to the
assembly and stabilized. The number 3 leaf shall be released and
the time interval measured from release of leaf number 3 until
leaf number 1 moves to a position that would release the rotor.
The assembly shall be classed defective if the measured time interval
exceeds the specified requirement or if the rotor fails to be in the
fully armed position after the arming acceleration has been removed.
WARNING: This test may be dangerous and should be performed behind
a suitable barricade.
