4.3.3 Testing
4.3.3.1 Spring embrittlement (see 3.2.1) - Major defects;
detent spring - Code No. 23001 - set-back weight spring - Code No.
24001 - firing pin spring - Code No. 25001 - nose cap spring -
Code No. 26001. - A sample of 10 springs shall be selected from each
heat treatment batch. The sample shall be tested as specified in
4.4.1 using equipment in accordance with 4.3.4. The heat treat-
ment batch shall be rejected if one or more springs fail to comply
with the specified requirement. Springs tested as specified shall
be discarded as scrap.
4.3.3.2 Setback weight spring set (see 3.2.2) - Major defect -
Code No. 27001. - A sample of ten (10)setback weight springs shall
be selected from each heat treatment lot and shall be tested as
specified in 4.4.2 using equipment in accordance with 4.3.4. If
one or more springs fail to comply with the specified requirement
they shall be classed defective and the heat treatment lot shall
be rejected. Springs tested as specified shall be discarded as
scrap.
4.3.3.2.1 Retaining spring set - Major defect - Code No.
28001. - A sample of ten retaining springs shall be selected from
each lot and shall be tested as specified in 4.4.3 using equipment
in accordance with 4.3.4. If one or more springs fail to comply
with the specified requirement they shall be classed defective
and the lot shall be rejected. Springs tested as specified shall
be discarded as scrap.
4.3.3.3 Mechanical Tests
4.3.3.3.1 Critical defects. - These tests shall be performed
100 percent. Assemblies falling to comply with the specified
