3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Material. Materials shall be in accordance with applicable
drawings and specifications.
3.2 Assembly. The assembly shall comply with all requirements
specified Drawing (Dwg.) 11830886, all associated drawings, and with
all requirements specified in applicable specifications.
3.3 Contamination and distortion of Lexan parts. Extreme care
should be taken throughout all phases of manufacture to avoid contacting
"Lexan" material. Specific information on "Lexan" destructive solvents
may be obtained from the General Electric Co., Chemical and Metalurgical
Division, Pittsfield, Mass.
3.4 Interchangeability.  All parts having the same part number shall
be completely interchangeable with each other and with like parts of
other manufacture with respect to installation and performance. Parts
joined together by welding, brazing, or riveting shall be interchangeable
as assemblies.
3.5 Spare parts.  When procurement documents (see 5.2) stipulate
that spare parts are to be furnished with assembled ammo feed assemblies,
the spare parts shall be produced concurrently with and of the same
material lots as like parts used in the assembled ammo feed assembly.
3.6 Performance characteristics.
3.6.1 Cycling.  The ammo feed system shall be capable of cycling
linked ammunition at the rate of 730 50 rounds per minute, when tested
as specified in 4.5.8.1.
3.6.2 Loading. The ammo feed system shall be capable of being
loaded with 750 0/10 rounds of M51A2 series, linked, 20MM ammunition in
not more than 10 minutes when loaded by a team of two people, when tested
as specified in 4.5.8.2.
3.6.3 Feed assembly handling.  When fully loaded, the feed assembly
shall be capable of supporting a load of not less than 510 pounds when
tested as specified in 4.5.8.3.
3.7 First article testing.  This specification makes provisions for
first article testing. Submission of first article quantity by the
contractor shall be as specified in the contract.
3.7.1 Disassembly and inspection (first article only). The motor
shall show no evidence of excessive wear, damage, burning, galling or
moving parts, etc when inspected as specified in 4.5.4.5.
