MILITARY SPECIFICATION
KNIFE, BAYONET, MULTIPURPOSE, M9 WITH SCABBARD
This Specification is approved for use within the U.S. Army
Armament Munitions and Chemical Command, and is available for use
by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense.
SCOPE
1.
1.1 Scope. This specification covers the M9 Multipurpose
Bayonet System (M.P.B.S.). This system is comprised of a
multipurpose knife which functions as a bayonet, field craft
knife, combat knife and wire cutter and is carried in a detachable
scabbard which may also serve as part of the wire cutter. The
termbayonet, hereinafter mentioned in this specification, shall
be the multipurpose knife described above.

2.1.1 Specifications, standards and handbooks. The following
specifications, standards and handbooks form a part of this
specification to the extent specified herein. Unless otherwise
specified, the issue of these documents shall be those listed in
the issue of the Department of Defense Index of Specifications and
Standards (DoDISS) and supplement thereto, cited in the
solicitation.
