be equipped with a sensing element located in the fuel-oil outlet from the
....
preheater, and with a manually controlled temperature selector and calibrated
dial. The controller shall automatically maintain the fuel-oil outlet tem-
perature within plus or minus 2F. of any selected temperature in the range
of 150 to 220F.
3.16.4.10 Pressure gage. An oil-pressure gage shall be installed in the
burner fuel-supply line. The gage shall be of the Bourdon type, shall operate
with the fuel oils specified for the burner, shall have a heavy-gage metal
case and a glass-covered indicating dial with a range of zero to 100 psig, and
shall be provided with a shutoff cock or valve. The dial shall be not less
than 3 inches in diameter and shall be graduated in increments of not snore
than 5 psi.
3.16.4.11 Thermometers. Thermometers shall be installed in both the fuel-
oil and hot-oil inlets and outlets from the preheater. The thermometers
shall have scales not less than 6 inches long. Thermometers installed in the
fuel-oil lines shall have 8 range of 40 F. to 275 F. Thermometers installed
in the hot-oil lines shall have a range of 100 F. to 500 F. Thermometers.
shall be installed so as to be visible for taking readings and accessible for
replacement. The thermometer shall be shielded to prevent damage.
3.16.5 Hot-oil jumper lines. Flexible piping for hot-oil heating jumper
Zincs to piping jackets and to fuel-oil preheater shall be provided.
3.16.6 Combustion chamber and i gnition cone. The combustion chamber shall
consist of a steel cylinder lined with firebrick conforming to HH-B-671,
class 4, or refractory conforming to HH-R-191, class 1. The ignition cone
Shall consist of a steel cone lined with refractory conforming to HH-R-191,
class 1. The combustion chamber and ignition cone shall be mounted at the
discretion of the supplier.
3.16.7 Discharge elevator and discharge chute. Means shall be provided
at the burner end of the dryer drum to discharge the dried aggregate into a
discharge chute, which will in turn direct the aggregate into the boot of the
hot-aggregate elevator or the portable conveyor. The elevator discharge shall
be of such a height as to eliminate the need for a bat-aggregate elevator pit.
A well for the sensing element of' the temperature indicator shall be installed
in the discharge chute in a location which will result in a representative
temperature of the discharge aggregate.
