The Digital Display Indicator contains the digital displays
and the associated display electronics, indicator lights for monitoring
various system functions, a BIT switch, and a dimming control. The digital
displays consist of an alpha display row for operator cueing and two alpha-
numeric display rows for parameters selected via the Keyer Control.
The Keyer Control contains the necessary switches and
controls required to insert and control the navigation functions, and the
associated electronics necessary to interface with the Digital Display
Indicator and the Navigation Computer.
The Remote Marker Entry Controller is utilized for the
entry of MAD and RADAR markers. It interfaces with the SDC.
The Marker Plotter Controller provides the Pilot's interface
between the NC and the Pilot's IP-886A/ASA-66. It contains electronics to
generate the symbols required by the IP-886A/ASA-66 and provides keys for
initiation of correction functions, and for selection of the scale and
center of the displayed information. It interfaces with the SDC and the
IP-886A/ASA-66.
The Battery Unit provides battery power to the NC during
power interruptions and provides sequencing and interlock functions for
control of the ASN-84 Inertial Measurement System. It contains a nickel-
cadmium battery, battery charge circuit, environmental controls for the
battery, control circuits for the CN-1231/ASN-84 Gyroscope Assembly and
power control circuits for the NC and SDC.
The Mode Controller provides the selection of the Inertial
Measurement System operating modes and provides legends for operational
status and recommended actions. It interfaces with the Battery Unit, the SDC,
and PP-4964/ASN-84 Power Supply.
The Control-Indicator provides a switch for selecting either
the radio navigation aids or the Navigation Display Set for controlling the
data displayed on the pilot's and the copilot's HSI's. A true heading
indicator light is provided as positive indication that true heading
information is being displayed. Two Control-Indicators are provided, one
each for the pilot and the co-pilot.
The Radar Buffer Converter processes outputs from the
IP-414A/APA-125 Radar Indicator for transmission to the SDC.
The Interconnecting Box provides the system interconnect
facility for necessary signal and power distribution. The box is designed
to enhance system electromagnetic compatibility and to simplify cabling
interconnections.
