3.5.5.3
Weight - The weight of the Converter shall not
exceed 64 pounds.
3.5.5.4
Contents - The Converter shall contain the following
major functions.
Radar Interface - The Converter shall accept radar
3.5.5.4.1
sweep input data from the AN/APS-80 Radar Set. The Converter shall
process these signals so as to provide outputs to the IP-886B/AsA-66
for PPI radar display.
Tactical Display Control (TDC) Interface - The
3.5.5.4.2
Converter shall provide logic power and LED Display Data to the TDC.
(Paragraph 3.5.6).
IP-886B/ASA-66 Interface - The Converter shall
3.5.5.4.3
provide video, deflection, and unblinking signals to the IP-886B/ASA-66
for display of tactical data. Interface requirements shall be as defined
in MIL-B-81358 for the IP-886B/ASA-66.
3.5.5.4.4
Computer Subsystem Channel Interfaces - The Converter
interface with the Computer Subsystem (consisting of two system units:
the NC and the SDC) shall provide serial data, clock signals, and discretes
necessary to communicate TACCO decisions to the NC and receive display
data in return. The interface shall be on a non-interrupt basis under
NC control. All data shall be transmitted LSB first.
3.5.5.4.4.1
Command Channel - The Command Channel shall interface
from the Converter to the SDC. Timing shall be in accordance with
Figure 23 and the Command word format shall be in accordance with Figure
24.
The Command Word discrete shall be set true each time a function
code is formulated and shall remain true until clocking is initiated.
It shall be set false again within 10 sec after the first clock is
received.
The SS-1 and SS-2 select portions of the word shall represent the
state of the Gram/Trace Select PBI's at the time a function code is
formulated. An active pushbutton state shall set the corresponding
select bit to true.
The design shall be such that a new command word is not formulated
until the old (previous) word is read into the computer.
