4.2 Classification of inspections.
The inspection requirements specified
herein are classified as follows:
First article inspection (see 4.3).
a.
b.
Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4).
c.
Inspection comparison (see 4.6).
d.
Inspection of packaging (see 4.7).
4.3 First article inspection.
4.3.1 Examination. The paver shall be examined as specified in 4.5.1.
Presence of one or more defects shall be cause for rejection.
4.3.2 Test. The paver shall be tested as specified in 4.5.2.1 through
4.5.2.13. Failure of any test shall be cause for rejection.
4.4 Quality conformance inspection.
4.4.1 Examination. Each paver shall be examined as specified in 4.5.1.
Presence of one or more defects shall be cause for rejection.
4.4.2 Test. Each paver shall be tested as specified in 4.5.2.2. Failure of
the test shall be cause for rejection.
4.5 Inspection procedure.
The paver shall be examined for the following defects:
4.5.1 Examination.
Material not as specified (see 3.3).

Materials not resistant to corrosion and deterioration, or treated

to be resistant to corrosion and deterioration for the applicable
storage and operating environments (see 3.3.1).
Dissimilar metals as defined in MIL-STD-889 are not effectively

insulated from each other (see 3.3.2).
Contractor does not have documentation available for identification
104.
of material, material finishes, or treatment (see 3.3.3).
Used, rebuilt or remanufactured components, pieces, or parts
105.
incorporated in the paver (see 3.4).
Safety features not as specified (see 3.5).

Human factors Engineering not as specified (see 3.6).
107.
Maintainability features not as specified (see 3.8).
108.
Crawlers not as specified (see 3.10).
109.
Hydrostatic drive system not as specified (see 3.11).

Operator's platform and controls not as specified (see 3.12).

Receiving hopper not as specified (see 3.13).

Compaction system not as specified (see 3.14)

Spreader screws not as specified (see 3.15).
