4.6.2.10.2 Slinging provisions. The slinging provisions shall be tested in accordance with
MIL-STD-209 to prove conformance to 3.17.2. Inability to meet the requirements of 3.17.2 shall
constitute failure of this demonstration.
4.6.2.10.3 Air transport test. The pump unit shall be tested in accordance with
MIL-STD-1791 to prove conformance to 3.17.3. Inability to meet the requirements of 3.17.3
shall constitute failure of this test.
4.6.2.10.4 Rail impact test. The first article only shall be tested in accordance with
MIL-STD-810 to prove conformance to 3.17.4. Inability to meet the requirements of 3.17.4 shall
constitute failure of this test.
4.6.2.10.5 Highway transport test. The pump unit shall be tested to prove conformance to
3.17.5. Inability to meet the requirements of 3.17.5 shall constitute failure of this test.
4.7 Inspection of packaging.
4.7.1 First article packaging inspection.
4.7.1.1 Examination. The first article packaging shall be examined for the defects specified
in MIL-P-10603 and for the additional defects specified in 4.7.2.2 herein.
4.7.1.2 Tests. The testing of first article packaging shall be in accordance with
MIL-P-10603.
4.7.2 Quality conformance inspection of packaging.
4.7.2.1 Unit of product. For the purpose of inspection, a completed pack prepared for
shipment shall be considered a unit of product.
4.7.2.2 Examination. Each pack shall be examined for the applicable defects listed in
MIL-P-10603. Additionally, each pack shall be examined for the following defects. Presence of
one or more defects shall be cause for rejection.
146. Wood/plywood not treated as specified for level A (see 5.3).
147. Cooling system not preserved as specified for level A (see 5.4.1).
148. Suction and discharge connection openings not protected with plywood as specified
for level A (see 5.4.1.1).
149. Void areas of skid mount not closed off with treated plywood as specified for
level A (see 5.4.1.2).
150. Crate cover not as specified for level A (see 5.5.1.1).
151. Crate cover not attached to skid mount as specified for level A (see 5.5.1.1).
152. Consolidation containers, when required, not as specified for level A (see 5.5.1.2).
153. Consolidation container not secured to the skid mount as specified for level A
(see 5.5.1.2).
154. Packing not as specified by the referenced document for level C (see 5.5.2).
155. Marking incorrect, missing or illegible for levels A (see 5.6).
