directions (total of 30 minutes) in compliance with the requirements
of 3.5.5. During vibration, the regulator shall be enerized to
determine compliance with 3.3.1. Subsequent to the vibration test,
the regulator shall be subjected to a visual examination and shall
show no evidence of physical damage and shall then be subjected to
the tests specified in 4.6.3 and 4.6.4 to determine compliance with
3.5.5.
4.6.3 Performance - electrical.- The regulator performance tests
shall be conducted utilizing commercial test equipment. The voltage
applied to the battery terminal shall be 2.65 .3 Vdc, and the input
voltage applied to the input terminal shall be 18-30 volt D.C. The
output load shall be a variable resistor with a value of 58 6 ohms
connected to the output terminal of the regulator.
4.6.3.1 Polarization of input terminal.- When the voltages
are applied as specified in 4.6.3, the input terminal shall be positive
with respect to case ground in compliance with 3.6.1.
4.6.3.2 Polarization of output terminal.- When the voltages are
applied as specified in 4.6.3 the output terminal shall be positive
with respect to case ground in compliance with 3.6.2.
4.6.3.3 Polarization of battery terminal.- When the voltages are
applied as specified in 4.6.3 the battery terminal shall be positive
with respect to case ground in compliance with 3.6.3.
4.6.3.4 Input Potential.- The regulator shall be operable within
the input voltage range of 18 Vdc to 30 Vdc in compliance with 3.6.4.
4.6.3.5 Reverse polarity.- The regulator shall not be damaged
when the input terminal is negative to the voltages specified in the
input potential test of 4.6.3.4 with respect to case ground to determine
compliance with 3.6.5.
4.6.4 Performance - operational.- These tests shall be performed
with the inputs and loads connected as specified in 4.6.3.
4.6.4.1 Electrical shock.- The regulator shall be operated as
specified in 4.6.3. The input shall be adjusted for 24 Vdc and the
output load varied between 50-60 ohns until 45 mini-amps is
obtained The 24 Vdc Power supply shall be turned on and off aS
specified in 3.7.1. When the 24 vdc power supply is "on", the
output terminal shall be 2.63 .3 Vdc. When the 24 Vdc power supply
is "off, "the output terminal shall be the same potential as the
battery terminal within .001 Vdc. The above procedure shall be
repeated for input potential of 18 Vdc and 30 Vdc.
.4.6.4.2 Input voltage surge.- The regulator shall be connected
as, specified in 4.6.3.utilizing.a pulse generator connected to the
input terminal. Superimpose a voltage spike on the input D.C.
