a. If upon failure analysis (to determine the cause of the mal-
function) an assignable cause (related to manufacturing process, proce-
dure, basic design weakness, etc.) is determined as the basis of the mal-
function, the malfunction will not be chargeable as a reliability failure.
However, the correction to the manufacturing process or procedure (et al)
shall be accomplished.
b. If upon failure analysis no assignable cause is evident and
the malfunction is considered random in nature, the malfunction shall
be a "chareable" reliability failure and as such must be considered in
the above demonstration test criteria. The decisions as to chareable
reliability failure must be coordinated with the procuring activity,
Frankford Arsenl Reliability and Maintainability Engineering Branch,
SARFA-QAR.
4.6.5.3 System interruption.- A system interruption is any system
malfunction for which the regulator is operable within the limits set
forth in this specification, -but requires maintenance to correct the
malfunction. Subsequent to the reliability test, the sample systems
shall be refurbished and readied for delivery and shipment.
