6.6 Recycled material. It is encouraged that recycled material be used when practical as
long as it meets the requirements of the specification (see 3.3).
6.7 Sound level. When the sound level of the equipment exceeds 85 dB(A) at the operator's
station, a noise hazard caution sign per MIL-STD-1474 shall be permanently affixed to the
equipment in the operator's compartment. The 85 dB(A) contour should be defined. The noise
hazard zone shall be clearly stenciled on the equipment in a conspicuous location with 3/4 inch
letters stating: "Hearing protection required within X feet from this equipment".
