PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY
5*
5.1 Preservation and packaging.
*5.1.1 Level C. - Each rack only shall be packaged in a
fiberboard carton with pad and fillers as described on dwg
8860600. The barrier bag shall be omitted. The carton shall
be closed by application of 2 inch wide tape over the full
length of the center top seam of the carton with a minimum
2 inch extension onto the end panels of the carton. The tape
snail conform to PPP-T-45 for Type III, Class 2, Grade B tape.
5.2
Packing.
*5.2.1 Level C. - Five (5) unit cartons shall be packed
in a fiberboard box conforming to PPP-B-636, for a Type CF,
Class Domestic, Variety SW, Grade 200 minimum box. The box
shall be closed by application of 2 inch wide tape over the
full length of all top and bottom seams of the carton with
a minimum 2 inch extension of tape around all corners of the
box and onto the end panels. Tape shall comply with PPP-
T-45 requirements for a Type III, Class 2 Grade B tape.
*5.3 Marking. - Individual unit cartons shall not be
marked. The exterior fiberboard box shall be marked in accord-
ante with MIL-STD-1169 requirements.

NOTES
*6.1 Intended use. - The Rack, Flare, CY2617/ALA-17 is
intended for use with Flare Cartridge MX3529/ALA-17 and
Flare Set AN\ALA-17.
*6.2 Ordering data. - Procurement documents shall specify
the following:
Title, number and date of this specification.
a.
Provisions for submission of first article samples.
b.
c. provisions of MIL-A-48078.
*6.3 Submission of inspection equipment designs for
app roval. - (See MIL-A-48078). Submit equipment designs as
required, to Commander: Picatinny Arsenal, ATTN: SARPA-
QA-T-T Dover, New Jersey 07801.
