reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in
the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to
assure that supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
4.2 Classification of Inspections.  The Inspection requirements
specified herein are classified as follows:
a. First article inspection (See 4.4)
b. Quality conformance inspection (See 4.5)
4.3 Inspection conditions.  Unless otherwise specified (See 6.2),
all inspections shall be performed under the following conditions:
a.  Temperature:  Room ambient 18 to 35C (65 to 95F)
b.  Altitude:  Normal ground
c,  Vibration:  No requirement
d. Humidity:  Room ambient to 95 percent relative, maximum
4.4 First article inspection.  First article inspection shall be
performed by the contractor, after award of contract and prior to
production, at a location acceptable to the Government. First article
inspection shall be performed on sample units which have been produced
with equipment and proCedUreS normally used in production. First
article approval is valid only on the contract under which it is
granted, unless extended by the Government to other contracts.
4.4.1 Sample size.  Ten rocket motors shall be subjected to
first article inspection.
4.4.2 Inspection routine. The sample shall be subjected to the
tests of table II . For des tructive tests the schedule of table III
shall be followed.
4.4.3 Failures. Failure of any rocket motor shall be cause for
refusal to grant first article approval.
4.5  Quality conformance inspection. Quality conformance inspection
shall consist of the tests and inspections listed in table IV.
4.5.1 Lot. A production lot of loaded rocket motor assemblies shall
consist of units loaded from the same propellant grain lot and submitted
for inspection and test at the same time. The number of grains per lot
shall not exceed 40.
