MIL-S-18471G(AS)
APPENDIX
c.
For purposes of determining compliance with specified values,
acceleration test data (filtered in accordance with 30.3.4c
or 30.3.8b) shall be subjected to the following procedure:
Convert data to 10 milliseconds (ms) moving averages,
(1)
GMA, using the equation
i=t+5
Σ
Gi
GMA(t) = (1/11)
i=t-5
t = time in ms.
where
Gi = filtered resultant acceleration values at one ms
intervals.
GMA(t) = 10ms moving average acceleration at
time t.
Use the applicable data channel end-to-end instrumentation
(2)
accuracy to calculate upper and lower limits, GMA
UPPER
If end-to-end accuracy cannot be readily
and GMA  .
LOWER
determined, assume an accuracy of 10 percent.
to the same number of
and GMA
Round off GMA
(3)
LOWER
UPPER
significant figures as the specified value.
to determine compliance with the specified value.
Use GMA
(4)
LOWER
AS an example of the above procedure, if Gt varies
(5)
linearly from 19.0g's to 24.0g's over a ten millisecond
time period and the measuring process has an overall
accuracy of 5 percent, the procedure is applied as
follows to determine if a specified value of 20.0g's
is being met:
(a) GMA= (1/11)(19.0 + 19.5 + 20.0 + 20.5 + 21.0 +
21.5 + ... + 24.0)g's
= 21.5g's
= 21.5g's + 5% = 22.6g's
(b) GMA
UPPER
GMA
= 21.5g's - 5% = 20.4g's
LOWER
