4.5.4
Initial calibration.  Initial calibration shall
consist of starter-type operation at stabilized pad "A" speeds ranging
from zero to runaway speed in equal increments to provide a minimum of
six speeds.  The items listed in paragraph 4.5.3 shall be recorded.
Stabilized speeds shall be obtained by loading pad "A" by means of a
suitable loading device.  The airflow versus speed curve shall be within
the limits specified on the Specification Sheet.  The pad "A" torque
versus speed tune shall be within the limits specified on the Specification
Sheet.  External cooling may be used during this calibration if excessive
oil temperatures will result from prolonged operation required to obtain
stabilized data.  Pad "B" shall not be loaded.
4.5.5
No-load operation (qualification).  With the cutout
switch made inoperative, the ATS/AD shall be operated as a starter at a
stabilized no-load speed for a period of time specified on the Specification
Sheet and then shut down.  The no-load speed obtained during this test
shall be not less than that specified on the Specification Sheet.  There
shall be no evidence of damage or failure upon completion of the test.
4.5.5.1
Burst test.  The ATS/AD shall be burst tested at no-
load with an inlet air total pressure and at an inlet air total temperature
specified on the Specification Sheet.  Sufficient airflow shall be
supplied at the above air inlet conditions until the ATS/AD has reached
stabilized free-running speed at which time the airflow shall be shut
off*  The turbine wheel shall not fail during this test. Pad "B" shall
not have an accessory installed thereon during this test.
