MILITARY SPECIFICATION
SPRINKLER, AUTOMATIC, QUICK RESPONSE
This specification is approved for use by the Naval Sea Systems Command,
Department of the Navy, and is available for use by all Departments and
Agencies of the Department of Defense.
1.1 SCOPE
1.1 scope. This specification covers automatic, thermo sefisitive, quick
response (QR) sprinklers installed in overhead sprinkler systems for shipboard
firefighting service. Sprinklers meeting this specification are suitable for use
in seawater piping systems.
1.2 Classification. Sprinklers shall be of the frangible bulb type in
pendant, upright, or horizontal sidewall configuration as defined in ANSI/UL 199.
