*  4.3.7 Suspension system articulation test. The fully loaded semitrailer shall be driven onto
6 inch blocks to simulate each of the conditions in 3.9.1, 3.9.2 or 3.9.3, as applicable. Failure of
any wheel to maintain contact with the ground or the blocks shall be cause for rejection.
4.3.8 Electrical test. An electrical test shall be conducted to determine that all vehicle lights
are functioning. In addition, when an interconnected 24-volt system is furnished, the circuits of
the 12-contact receptacle shall be energized with not less than 28 volts dc regulated voltage for a
time sufficient to stabilize the temperature of the resistor assembly for not less than 30 minutes in
an ambient temperature of not less than 77F. After the test, the resistor assembly, including
resistors, wiring and adjacent components shall be examined for evidence of overheating,
deterioration or damage.
4.3.9 Folding and detachable gooseneck test. The gooseneck on class B, C, D and E
semitrailers shall be tested to determine conformance to the requirements specified herein
(see 3.3.4, 3.8.2, 3.8.3, 3.8.4 and 3.8.5).
4.3.10 Load test for sizes 50, 60 and 75. Unless an extended road test is specified
(see 4.3.3), sizes 50, 60 and 75 first vehicle shall be loaded with one and one-half times the rated
payload and shall be examined to determine conformance to the static requirements of this
specification. After completion of static examination, sizes 50, 60 and 75 first vehicle shall be
road tested on public roads or may be road tested at the contractor's facility for a distance of not
less than 5 miles, without payload, to determine conformance to the functional requirements of
this specification.
