time sufficient to stabilize the temperature of the resistor assembly for not less than 30 minutes in
an ambient temperature of not less than 25C (77F). After the test, the resistor assembly,
including resistors, wiring and adjacent components shall be examined for evidence of
overheating, deterioration or damage.

4.3.9 Lifting and tiedown test. Lifting and tiedown provisions, markings, and the connecting
structural members of the vehicle shall be inspected for conformance with MIL-STD-209. All
lifting and tiedown provisions and the connecting structural members shall meet the criteria of
MIL-STD-209. Test results that show the provisions do not meet the criteria of MIL-STD-209
shall constitute failure of this test.
4.3.10 Type I pump test. Type I semitrailer pumping equipment shall be tested by loading
and unloading the tank under the conditions and at the flow rate specified in 3.16.1.1 and
3.16.1.2.
4.3.11 Type II loading and unloading test. Type II semitrailer shall be loaded and unloaded
at the rate of up to 948 L/min (250 gpm). The fire hose connections, valves, and piping shall be
tested by a fire truck or suitable pump drawing from the semitrailer while pumping at 948 L/min
(250 gpm). Failure of the suction connections to deliver a water flow of 948 L/min (250 gpm),
failure to deliver the complete contents of the tank, or damaged piping or a damaged tank due to
vacuum pressure shall be cause for rejection.
*  4.3.12 Certification. When an air suspension system is furnished, the contractor shall certify
capability of the system to operate over the temperature range specified in 3.8.1.
*  4.3.13 Production sample. Upon acceptance of the first production vehicle, it shall remain at
the manufacturing facility as a production sample and shall be the last vehicle shipped on the
contract. The manufacturer shall maintain the vehicle in an as new condition for the duration of
the contract. Release of the first vehicle for shipment prior to completion of the contract shall be
at the discretion of the local Government Quality Assurance Representative (QAR).
*  4.3.14 Failure. Failure of the first production vehicle to meet requirements of the contract
shall be cause for the Government to refuse acceptance of all vehicles under contract until
corrective action has been taken.
*  4.4 Inspection of production vehicles. The contractor's inspection system shall, as a
minimum, assure that the vehicle conforms to the physical and dimensional requirements and is
capable of meeting the performance requirements contained herein. All semitrailers under
contract shall be tested as specified in 4.3.2. For each vehicle under contract, the contractor shall
