4.3.1.2.2 Preliminary inspection. The first production and initial production semitrailers shall
be subjected to an inspection, examination and road tests by the responsible Government
inspection element and Government Procuring Activity. This inspection will be a thorough and

4.3.1.2.3 Vehicle disposition. After completion of inspection, the first production semitrailer
shall remain at the manufacturing facility, as a production sample, and be the last vehicle of its

accordance with applicable documents for care and preservation while in storage. All
configuration changes taking place after the first production inspection, shall be made to the first
production semitrailer so that the semitrailer will be representative of the current configuration
throughout the life of the contract. No configuration changes may be implemented on production
vehicles after Government conditional acceptance of the first production vehicle (applicable
vehicle type) without written authorization from the contracting officer.
4.3.2 Shakedown tests. Following the first production trailer inspection and road test, the
trailer shall be subjected to a 2,000 mi shakedown test, by the contractor, in accordance with table

with 900 mi of each type surface at maximum payload and 100 mi of each surface without
