4.7 Examinations, inspection, and tests.
4.7.1 Materials check. Materials shall be checked for conformance to the requirements
specified by 3.3, 3.3,1 and 3.3.2.
4.7.2 Screw threads check. The screw threads shall be checked for conformance to the
requirements specified by 3.4.3.
4.7.3 Lashing rings check. To determine conformance to 3.4.17.5, each semitrailer, less
payload, shall be checked for proper installation and location of cargo tiedowns as specified.
4.7.3.1 Lashing rings test. To determine conformance to 3.4.17.5, the semitrailer shall be
tested for specified requirements.
4.7.4 Axle and suspension check. To determine conformance to 3.4.12, 3.4.12.1, and
3.4.12.2, the suspension system and axles shall be checked for proper assembly and installation of
components and conformance to specified requirements.
4.7.4.1 Axle and suspension test. The axles and suspension shall be tested to determine
conformance to the requirements specified by 3.4.12 through 3.4.12.2.
4.7.5 Tires, tubes and wheels check. To determine conformance to 3.4.13, 3.4.13.1, and
3.4.13.2, the tires and wheels shall be checked for proper assembly, installation, and conformance
to specified requirements.
4.7.5.1 Tires, tubes and wheels test. The tires, tubes and wheels shall be tested to determine
conformance to the requirements specified by 3.4.13 through 3.4.13.2.
4.7.5.2 Tire carrier and spare wheel check. The spare wheel and mounting provisions shall be
checked to determine conformance to the requirements specified by 3.4.13.3 and 3.4.13.4.
4.7.6 Rear wheel splash and stone throw protection. To determine conformance to 3.4.20,
splash and stone throw protection provisions shall be checked for specified requirements.
4.7.7 Wheel well covers check. The wheel well covers shall be checked to determine
conformance to the requirements specified by 3.4.9.
4.7.7.1 Wheel well covers test. The wheel well covers shall be tested to determine
conformance to the requirements specified by 3.4.9.
4.7.8 Brake system check. To determine conformance to 3.4.14, 3.4.14.1, and 3.4.14.3, the
complete brake system and air lines shall be checked for proper assembly and installation of
components and conformance to specified requirements. The load or the 10% slope is not
required for this check. Air leaks are not allowed.
