REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Preproduction sample, When specified in the contract or order,
a preproduction sample shall be manufactured using the procedure pro-
posed for the production lot, The sample shall consist of sufficient
material from each heat to perform the tests of 4.4 and shall be tested,
as specified herein, for the purpose of determining, prior to starting
production, that the suppliers production methods are capable of
yielding bars and forgings that comply with the technical requirements
of the contract, Any production of steel prior to approval of the pre-

production sample shall be at the contractor risk,
