MIL-T-46316B(MU)
3.4 Cleanliness.- The telescope shall meet the cleanliness require-
ments of Specification MIL-O-13830. There shall be no more than 2 particles
of dirt visible in the center zone,(.614 inch diameter) of the reticle,
and the area of each particle shall not be in excess of the area equivalent
to a size 10 dig. There shall be no more than 5 particles of dirt visible
in the outer zone of the reticle, and the area of each particle shall not
be in excess of the area equivalent to a size 20 dig.
3.5 Sealing.- The telescope shall show no evidence of leakage when
subjected to an internal pressure of dry nitrogen at 5 pounds per square
inch gage (psig) for a minimum period of 5 minutes. The interior atmos-
phere of the accepted telescope shall contain nitrogen having a dew point
at least as low as -25F. The internal pressure of the accepted telescope
shall be between 0.1 to 0.25 psig.
3.6 Orientation.- The telescope shall meet the requirements of 3.7
with the kingpin holes vertical, the level vial bubble centered, the
mechanical cant index line indicating zero, and the eyepiece arm horizontal.
3.7 Accuracy.
3.7.1 Collimation.- The line of sight through the boresight point of
the reticle shall be 20 mils 1.0 mil above the geometric axis and within
1.0 mil of a plumb line passing through the geometric axis.
3.7.2 Repeatability.- The line of sight through the boresight point
of the alternate reticle shall coincide with an established line of sight
through the boresight point of the primary reticle within 0.1 mil.
3.7.3 Parallelism of reticle and image.- The horizontal reticle line
nearest the geometric axis of each reticle shall be parallel to a horizontal
target line within thirty minutes of arc.
3.7.4 Reticle accuracy,- The angular value between the zero range
mark and the maximum range mark (in the finished telescope) shall be as
indicated on the reticle-drawing within 0.25 mil.
3.7.5 Boresight error due to reticle rotation.- With the vertical
line of the reticle in coincidence with a plumb line, the line of sight
established at the boresight point shall not deviate more than 0.25 mil
when the reticle line is canted 5 degrees to the left and 5 degrees to the
right of the plumb lien by means of the cant correction knob.
3.7.6 Eyepiece focus.- The eyepiece focus shall be fixed between the
limits of -0.75 and -1.0 diopter.
3.7.7 Resolution.- The resolution at the optical axis shall be 12
seconds of arc or less.
3.7.8 Parallax.- Parallax at the geometric axis shall not exceed
0.15 mil when viewing a target at 600 meters 25 meters.
