3.8.5 Image tilt. - With the telescope positioned as in 3.8.1, the
image of a plumb line over the full field of view shall be vertical within
one degree.
3.8.6 Reticle shift. - Changing the direction of rotation of the
reticle knob shall not cause the horizontal line of the boresight cross to
exceed the tolerance specified in 3.8.2.2; nor shall cause the boresight
cross to shift in azimuth in excess of 0.05 roil.
3.8.7 Resolution. - The resolution on the optical axis shall be five
seconds of arc or less.
3.8.8 Reticle plumb travel. - With the telescope positioned as in 3.8.1,
the line of sight through the boresight cross of the sliding reticle shall
track a plumb line within plus or minus 0.5 mil, (total lateral spread not
to exceed 0.5 roil) when the reticle is depressed by rotation over an excursion
of 60 mils as read on the mil scale of the reticle lens.
3.8.9 Parallelsim of reticle and image. - With the telescope positioned
as in 3.8.1, the vertical line of the mil scale shall be parallel to the
image of the plumb line within 30 minutes.
3.8.10 Parallax. - With the boresight cross positioned with 2.0 mils
of the optical axis, parallax at the boresight cross shall not exceed 0.25
mil between 125 yards and infinity.
3.9 Operability. - The running torque required to rotate the diopter
adjustment and the reticle knob shall not exceed the values specified in
Table I at temperatures indicated when subjected to the requirements of 3.4.2.
TABLE I- OPERABILITY
3.10 Illumination. - When illuminated, the markings on the reticle and
reticle lens shall appear clearly defined when observed in a darkened area.
