MILITARY SPECIFICATION
TRUCKS, TANK: SEWAGE AND WASTE,
DUMP TYPE, 4550 AND 7570 LITER (1200 AND 2000 GALLON),
MODIFIED COMMERCIAL
This specification is approved for use by the US Army Tank-Automotive Command,
Department of the Army, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of
the Department of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers diesel and gasoline engine driven trucks equipped with
a hydraulic lift dump tank, an auxiliary engine driven centrifugal pump, and associated hoses and
equipment for loading and unloading the dump tank with sewage and waste materials. The
vehicle is capable of cleaning sewers, septic tanks, catch basins, manholes, and sludge pits. The
trucks have minimum gross vehicle weights (GVW) of 11 350 kilograms (kg) (25,000 pounds) in
a four wheel, two wheel drive (4x2), 4550 liter (L) (1200 gallon) size; and 15 650 kg
(34,500 pounds) in a six wheel, four wheel drive (6x4), 7570 L (2000 gallon) size; for normal
rating conditions. Vehicles procured under this specification are commercial items which are
warranted by the manufacturer as specified in acquisition documents.
