APPENDIX
brakes or other similar means, but not by means of wheel

(4) Repeat test using right load wheel in lieu of left load
wheel.

Lateral Stability - Stacking (Left Hand)
(1) Placement of Truck
a.
Place empty truck with an articulated steer axle, on an
initially level platform in a position that a line
connecting the center of the left load wheel tire (or
outermost tire where multiple tires are used) and the
projection perpendicular to platform of the point of
intersection of the longitudinal centerline of the truck
and the centerline of the steering wheels is parallel to
the axis of the tilting of platform.  Position steering
wheels parallel to the tilting axis of the platform (see
Figure A-12).
b.
Place empty truck, with a non-articulated steer axle, on
an initially level platform in a position that a line
connecting the center of the left load wheel tire (or
outermost tire where multiple tires are used) and the
projection perpendicular to the platform of the point of
intersection of the respective steer tire centerline is
parallel to the axis of the tilting platform.  Position
steering wheels parallel to the tilting axis of the
platform (see Figure A-13).
(2) Place a 6000 pound load on the forks with the center of mass
of the load on the longitudinal centerline of the mast with
the forks in the front carry mode.  The load shall be tilted
toward the platform tilt axis, shifted and pivoted to the
position of least stability.
(3) With the load elevated to maximum height, the test platform
should be tipped to a 6 percent slope.  During the test
there shall be no operator on the truck.  Maintain the truck
position on the platform by brakes or similar means, but not
by means of wheel chocks.
(4) Repeat test using right load wheel in lieu of left.
