*  3.4.20 Rearview mirrors. Outside rearview mirrors shall be mounted on both sides of the
cab. The outside rearview mirrors shall be of the Junior West Coast or low mount type
incorporating a wide angle viewing system. The upper mirror shall have a flat reflective area of
not less than 225 square centimeters (cm2) (35 square inches). The lower mirror shall have a
convex reflective area of not less than 155 cm2 (24 square inches). The mirror assembly heads
shall be adjustable and mounted to minimize obstruction of forward lines of vision. Outside
rearview mirrors shall be capable of folding to the body sides for vehicle storage and shipment.
An inside rearview mirror shall be furnished, mounted at the top center of the windshield.

3.4.21 Horn. An electric horn shall be furnished.
*  3.4.22 AM/FM radio. When specified (see 6.2), the manufacturer's standard AM/FM radio
shall be provided.
*  3.4.23 Servicing and adjusting. Prior to acceptance of the vehicle by the Government
inspector, the contractor shall service and adjust each vehicle for operational use including at
least the following: focusing of lights; torquing of all fasteners to manufacturer's
recommendations; adjustment of engine, electrical and brake systems; filling and charging of
battery; alinement of front wheels; inflation of all tires; complete lubrication of chassis, engine,
and running gear, with grades of lubricants recommended for the ambient air temperature at the
delivery point; servicing of cooling system with a solution of ethylene glycol type antifreeze and
water in equal parts by volume; and servicing of the windshield washer reservoir with water and
appropriate additives; tactile examination of the cabinets, shelves and interior components.
3.5 Vehicle body driver's compartment, cargo compartment.
*  3.5.1 Vehicle body. The vehicle body shall be a forward control type with integral cab and
body. The vehicle shall be of all metal construction. All windows shall be of safety glass.
Doors shall be equipped with locks operable from inside through mechanical linkage. Each door
shall be equipped with external, key-operated lock incorporating manufacturer's standard key
locking arrangement. All doors shall be capable of being opened from inside and outside. In
addition to the door operating handles, a grab handle shall be provided on the inside of each front
door and each rear door. Drip rails shall be installed above all doors (see figure 1).
3.5.1.1 Cab doors. Doors shall be provided for access to the driver's (compartment and to a
bench seat at the rear of the driver's and assistant driver's seat. Each cab door shall have a roll up
type window.
