4.5.5 Environmental requirements. The part or assembly shall he
subjected to the environmental tests in order to determine conformance to the
environmental characteristics specified on the applicable drawing. Test
equipment and procedures shall be satisfactory to the contracting agency. If
any part or assembly fails to comply with any specified environmental
requirement, it shall be classed defective and rejected.
4.5.6 Performance characteristics: The gun control assembly shall be
tested for compliance with specified electronic, test points, feed-through
winding, power outputs, input/output relationships, adjustments, fire voltage
output load, and power supply fail safe. Any assembly which fails to comply
with the specified performance characteristic requirements or evidences
degradation of its operational performance shall be classed defective. Test
equipment and procedures shall be satisfactory to the contracting officer.
(See 4.4.4)
4.5.6.1 Environmental characteristics (first article inspection only):
The gun control assemblies shall be subjected to the aircraft vibration,
transpiration vibration, shock, high temperature, temperature-altitude, and
humidity test specified in MIL-STD-810 to determine compliance with the
applicable specification requirements. The gun control assemblies shall be
function tested for compliance with the performance characteristics of 4.5.6
when the requirements specify that the system shall be operated. Any gun
control assembly which fails to comply with the specified performance test
shall be classed defective.
4.5.6.2 Proof test (first article inspection only). When specified in
the contract (see 6.2) five (5) gun control assemblies shall be forwarded to
the cite specified by the contracting agency and assembled to an accepted
Universo Turret Subsystem (UTS). The gun control assemblies shall function
in accordance to the intent of the design and with no evidence of malfunction.
When approved by the contracting agency, this test may be performed at the
aircraft system level.
4.6 Interchangeability testing.
4.6.1 Gun control assembly. A sample of 3 control assemblies randomly
selected from each inspection lot shall be tested for interchangeability using
the test method specified in 4.6.3. Control assemblies taken for
interchangeability testing shall have been found satisfactory in all other
examinations and tests. Test frequency may be reduced to not less than one
test of 3 control assemblies each lot when a record of consistently
