3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Materials. Materials shall be in accordance with the
applicable drawings, specifications and standards.
3.2 Parts. All parts shall comply with applicable drawings,
specifications and standards.
3.3 Universal Boresight Kit. The universal Boresight Kit (UBK)
shall comply with all requirements specified on Drawing (Dwg)
11830730, all associated drawings, and with all requirements
specified in applicable specifications and standards.
3.4 Performance requirement. The UBK shall provide a means of
projecting the centerline of the firing barrel of the gun (7.62MM,
20MM, or 30MM) onto a distant boresight target with a maximum
angular error of 1.50 mils. The fiber optic eyepiece shall be of
sufficient length and clarity that the crewman can view the
boresight target through the telescope without having to stand in
the gun barrel path in the event the barrels are slewed during
boresighting.
3.4.1 Weight. The UBK shall not exceed 20 lbs.
3.4.2 Color. The carrying case of the UBK shall have a slate
gray color, complying with FED-STD-595 Color No. 26270.
3.5 Environmental conditions (first article testinq only). The
universal Boresight Kit (UBK) shall operate and meet the performance
requirements of 3.4 under any of the environmental conditions, or
reasonable combination of these conditions, as specified below:
3.5.1 Natural environment. UBK components shall operate
satisfactorily and withstand storage in the worldwide conditions as

listed below:
3.5.1.1 Hiqh temperature. The UBK shall perform all functions
satisfactorily after being subjected to +160F when tested as
specified in 4.5.4.1.
3.5.1.2 Humidity. The UBK shall operate satisfactorily in
relative humidity up to 100 percent including conditions where
condensation is in the form of water and frost when tested as
specified in 4.5.4.1.
3.5.1.3 Salt atmosphere. The UBK shall operate satisfactorily
after being subjected to MIL-STD-810, Method 509.1 for 12 hours when
tested as specified in 4..5.4.2.
