(Copies of specifications, standards, drawings, and other Government documents
required by the contractors in connection with specific acquisition functions
should be obtained from the contracting activity or as directed by the
contracting  activity.)
2.2 Order of precedence.  In the event of a conflict between the text of
this specification and the reference cited herein (except for the associated
detail  specifications, specification sheets or MS standards), the text of
this specification shall take precedence.  Nothing in this specification,
however, shall supersede applicable laws and regulations unless a specific
exemption has been obtained.
3.
REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Item description.  The Guided Weapon Test Set AN/DSM-96B shall consist
of the Guided Weapon Test Console OJ-l15B/DSM-96, Guided Weapon Test Stand
MT-3707C/DSM-74 and cable assemblies.  The test set shall be capable of
testing all non telemetry Walleye weapons.  When used in conjunction with
Group OQ-169B/DSM-96A Test Set (see MIL-T-85472), the test sets shall also
be capable of testing the Extended Range Data Link, Phase I and Phase II
Walleye weapons.  The Group OQ-169B/DSM-96A Test Set consists of Guided
Weapon Test Console 0J-306B/DSM-96A, Phase I Antenna Shroud, Phase II
Antenna Shroud, and Weapon Antenna Attenuator Load. Figure 1 shows the
Guided Weapon Test Set AN/DSM-96B and the Group OQ-169B/DSM-96A Test Set
interconnected in a weapon test configuration.  Detail operational
instructions are specified in NAVAIR 16-30DSM96-3 and NAVAIR 16-30DSM96-4.
3.2 Parts and materials.
3.2.1 Nonstandard parts and material approval.  Approval for the use of
nonstandard parts and materials shall be obtained by the contractor as
specified in MIL-STD-965.
3.2.2 Basic conformance.  Materials and parts selected for use in the
test set shall be as specified in MIL-T-17296. Parts shall be selected
from those conforming to MIL-T-28800, unless the parts selected will not
perform as required in the intended applications and environments specified
herein, in which case 3.2.1 applies.
3.2.3  Interchangeability.  The test shall meet the interchangeability
requirements of MIL-T-17296.  The drawings listed in DL 130AS200 shall be
the standard for measuring interchangeability of all applicable units,
assemblies, subassemblies, and parts.
3.3 Design and construction.  The test set shall be manufactured in
accordance with the drawings and subsidiary specifications listed in DL
130AS200, except in so far as errors of omissions or commission on the
drawings may be incompatible with the requirements of this specification.
In any case, it is a condition of final acceptance that the test set
manufactured shall meet all the design, construction, and workmanship
requirements of this specification and applicable acceptance test documents.
