UNIT HEATER, AIR-CIRCULATING, STEAM
(SHIPBOARD USE)
This specification is approved for use by the Naval Sea Systems Command,
Department of the Navy, and is available for use by all Departments and
Agencies of the Department of Defense.
1.
SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers steam unit heaters for use in
heating spaces on Naval ships.
1.2 Classification. Unit heaters shall be of the following classes and
sizes, as specified (see 6.2.1).
Class 1

Standard construction.
Nonmagnetic construction.
Class 2

18,000 British thermal units per hour (BTU/HR) capacity.
Size 11

Size 12
-
30,000 BTU/HR capacity.
Size 13

46,000 BTU/HR capacity.
Size 14

74,500 BTU/HR capacity.
Size 15

116,000 BTU/HR capacity.
Size 16

186,500 BTU/HR capacity.
