3.4.9.18 Main gun and machine gun circuit controls. The firing circuit controls shall be
arranged and interlocked to allow the commander to fire the main gun, coaxial machine gun, and
the cupola machine gun and to allow the gunner to fire the main gun and the coaxial machine
gun. The main gun shall be provided with production against accidental firing by a loader's
safety switch which interrupts the commander and gunner firing circuits automatically during
gun recoil. The switch shall thereafter remain in the safe (open circuit) position until manually
returned to the fire (closed circuit) position by the loader. The blasting machine shall provide an
alternate source of electrical power for emergency firing of the main gun through the loader
safety switch.
3.4.9.19 Smoke grenade discharger circuits.
3.4.9.19.1 Arming. The power-on (ready) lamp in the grenade power box shall
illuminate when the master battery switch, turret power switch, and the grenade system power
switch are all on.
3.4.9.19.2 Circuit voltage. Voltage at the smoke grenade discharge firing pins shown in
figure 6 shall be as indicated in table I when the power-on (ready) lamp in the grenade power
box is illuminated and the appropriate firing pushbutton is actuated.

3.4.10 Vision devices and receptacles. Provisions shall be made to assure that
receptacles incorporated in the vehicle will except applicable vision devices without binding or
interference. The gunner and commander periscope receptacles shall accept the periscopes, and
when installed, removed, and reinstalled the line of sight shall not deviate more than 0.2 mil
from the line of sight of initial installation setting. When installed, the periscope receptacles,
vision devices, and vision blocks shall prevent the entrance of water into vehicle.
3.4.11 Welding repairs. Welding repairs of any type or class shall be made only when
specifically authorized by the acquisitioning activity.
3.5 Break-in run.
3.5.1 Preparation. Prior to break-in run, the vehicle shall be completely assembled and
adjustments completed. Vehicle, including all components requiring lubrication shall be
lubricated and serviced with fuel as directed (see 6.4). Lubricants and fluids shall be as specified
in Production Lubrication Drawing D10940135 detail of EPL 8736334. Engine oil conforming
