3.6.14.5 Boresight retentions. The gunner periscope and telescope shall maintain
previously established boresight within the values of table V.

3.6.14.6 Night vision. Actuation of the night vision channel switch of the gunner
periscope or the commander periscope shall remove the shutter from the optical path and shall
provide low light level operation viewing and sighting through the night vision channel. Image
brightness shall be maximum with the tube control knob in the extreme clockwise position. The
reticle shall not be illuminated with the reticle control knob in the "off" position, and it shall be
of maximum brightness with the reticle control knob in the extreme clockwise position.
3.6.15 Cupola performance.
3.6.15.1 Slip ring contact boards. The slip ring contact boards mounted in the turret shall
be vertically adjusted so that the bottom edge of the lowest contact spring is in the same
horizontal plane as the bottom edge of the lowest contact strip within plus or minus .010 inch.
3.6.15.2 Slip ring circuits. When the completed cupola has been assembled to the turret,
it shall include slip rings to provide uninterrupted continuity of communications, power, and
ground circuits throughout continuous 360 of cupola traverse. Each slip ring power circuit shall
be capable of transferring between turret and cupola a minimum of 15 amperes of constant
current. Each slip ring communication circuit shall be capable of transferring a minimum of
10 amperes continuous current.
3.6.15.3 Slip ring noise. The operation of slip ring shall not introduce static of any kind
into the communications system.
3.6.15.4 Traverse effort. Azimuth gear box starting torque, for right or left traverse,
shall be not more than 30 inch-pounds to start motion from any position within 360 rotation.
3.6.15.5 Elevation effort. With machine gun flexible feed chute, canvas cover and
periscope linkage installed, the screwjack handle breakaway torque shall not exceed the
following:
15 depression to 60 elevation, 25 in. lb.
60 elevation to 10 depression, 25 in. lb.
10 depression to 15 depression, 35 in. lb.
3.6.15.6 Elevation limits. The cradle with machine gun sighting system and cradle cover
installed shall have a minimum of 60 elevation and a minimum of 15 depression.
