stowed position to vertical position, the boom control valve shall be displaced fully in "raise"
position until the boom is vertical position. The winch control valve shall be held in "reel-in"
position until the boom has been pulled back to approximately 6 inches above turret travel locks
and stowed travel locks by metering boom control valve.
4.5.1.43.2 Winch check. To determine conformance to 3.6.18.3, place the boom in erect
position against stayline and with the winch in "LO" gear attach the boom cable hook to a weight
of not less than 187,500 pounds, raise the weight 1 foot and suspend it for one minute with the
control valve in "Neutral", then continue raising the weight to a point 2 feet above the initial
starting position, stop, and lower to the ground. With the cable attached to a weight of not more
than 20,000 pounds, the relief valve setting shall prevent it from being lifted. With sufficient
tension to maintain proper reeling and with the engine operating as specified, the rate of reel-in
shall be checked for feet per minute.
4.5.1.43.3 Winch brake check. To determine conformance to 3.6.18.4 with weight
specified attached to cable, the winch shall be operated and the brake checked for functional
requirements.
4.5.l.43.4 Bulldozer test. To determine conformance to 3.6.18.5, the bulldozer control
shall be operated as specified and operation of bulldozer observed for functional requirements.
4.5.1.43.5 Vehicle hydraulic system fluid leakage check. To determine conformance to
3.6.18.7, the vehicle hydraulic system components shall be wiped clean prior to testing. The
hydraulic system shall be operated through all operations and checked for operational
requirements.
4.5.2 Control tests. Control tests for maintaining control of those requirments whose
inspection would be of too long duration to be included under acceptance tests shall be
conducted by the manufacturer as specified herein.
4.5.2.1 Frequency. The first vehicle off the production line, or one of the first
10 vehicles produced, and thereafter one per month or as specified, shall be checked in
accordance with the following control tests.
4.5.2.2 Failure. If the vehicle selected fails to pass any control tests, the Government
inspector shall stop acceptance until such time as conditions causing the failure have been
remedied.
4.5.2.3 Contamination check. To determine conformance to 3.6.8.5, the vehicle after the
water fording test, shall be examined for contamination of lubricants of the transmission, engine,
final drive, reservoir, and road wheel two, three, four, five, and one of their corresponding arms
on each side of the vehicle. Contamination shall not exceed 2 percent by volume.
4.5.2.4 Stowed equipment check. To determine conformance to 3.4.2, all manufacturer
and depot installed OVE shall be stowed (combat loaded) on the selected vehicle. All items shall
fit in the space provided. The equipment shall be removed after the test. The OVE used shall be
of the latest configuration available to the contractor. The contractor shall be permitted to
