provisions. Positive locks shall be provided for all hatches in all required positions. Vision
device receptacles incorporated in the vehicle shall accept Government supplied vision devices
without binding or interference, and provide adequate support during all vehicle operating
conditions. All closed hatches and installed vision devices shall restrict entrance of water to a
maximum of 10 drops per minute, collectively, into the vehicle.
3.4.6 Electrical systems.
3.4.6.1 Electrical circuits. The electrical system of the weapon station shall be compatible
with a vehicular system power supply which conforms to the requirements of MIL-STD-1275,
except for surge and spike conditions. It shall enable the weapon station to successfully perform
all of its specified design functions when furnished power from the batteries and operational
electric power system of the vehicle, or emergency power from a single TOW MGS battery.
Communication and electrical circuits shall maintain continuity from end to end, without any
shorts from one pin to the other, or from each pin to the connector shell, to assure proper
function of communications and other electrical equipment.
3.4.6.2 Generating system voltage (alternator). Alternator shall produce 50 + 5 amperes at
4,000 + 100 rpm, and the voltage regulator rheostat shall be adjustable to deliver 28 + 0.5 volts at
the chassis batteries.
3.4.6.3 Lights. The lights, as specified on applicable drawings, shall operate throughout all
vehicle operating conditions. Electrical contacts and connections shall maintain positive contact
under all vehicle operating conditions.
3.4.7 Adjustment mechanisms. All adjustment mechanisms, including gunner's and squad
leader's seats, shall function properly and maintain adjustment settings during all vehicle
operating conditions.
3.4.8 Welding repairs. Welding repairs of any kind shall be made only when, and to the
extent, specifically authorized by the applicable drawings, specifications or welding procedures
which have been approved by the procuring activity.
3.4.9 Controls. All electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic controls shall operate without
malfunction throughout all ranges of operation under all operating conditions.
3.4.10 Hydraulic lines. Hydraulic lines and connections shall be internally clean prior to
initial filling of the system with hydraulic fluid conforming to MIL-H-5606 or MIL-H-6083.
Leakage at the hydraulic lines, connections and reservoirs shall not exceed a "seep" condition
(see 6.6).
