3.6.12.1.1 Power. Operation of the erection system in any mode shall be prohibited in the
absence of both primary and emergency power. The erection system shall be driven by the
erection drive motor when primary power is available. The erection system shall be driven
between stow and erect with the hand crank drive on the erection arm, when emergency power is
used as specified in 3.6.16.1.
3.6.12.2 Erect position. When the erect mode is selected and the launcher and erection arm
are driven to the erect position as specified in 3.6.12, the erection arm and the elevation drive
assembly shall be secured in the erect position by the extension of lock cylinders. When the
weapon station power (primary or emergency) is on, and hydraulic accumulator indicator
pressure is 1200 psi, the erection lock cylinders shall engage.
3.6.12.2.1 Erection lock cylinders. The lower erection lock cylinders shall remain engaged,
securing the erection arm in the erect position, when hydraulic system pressure has first been
bled to the precharge level and then primary and emergency power to the weapon station
removed. The erection lock cylinders shall always retract, when load or stow position is selected
and hydraulic system pressure is 1200 psi or greater.
3.6.12.2.2 Erection motor speed and time. The erection motor speed shall be controlled, so
as to limit acceleration and shock loading of the launcher. The motor shall stop, without hunting
or overshooting, when the erection arm reaches the desired position. The time required to erect
and lock the launcher from the stow position shall not exceed eight seconds.
3.6.12.3 Stow mode. The stow mode shall be provided as the normal travel position. The
launcher and erection arm assemblies shall rest on the stow vertical supports, and within the
lateral restraints, during all vehicle operating conditions without damage to the vehicle.
3.6.12.4 Load mode. When in the load mode the launcher shall be at an azimuth angle of
0 + 1 degree, the elevation angle shall be at the maximum displacement, and the erection arm
shall be at an angle which is 63 + 5 degrees from the erect position of the erection arm. This
position shall be maintained in the load mode.
3.6.12.5 Azimuth and elevation positional capability. Capability shall be provided to drive
the vehicle weapon station continuously, in either azimuth direction, using the hand controller,
and to drive the launcher to any elevation angle between 30 + 1 degrees depression and not less
than 34 degrees elevation.
3.6.12.6 Azimuth and elevation drives. The azimuth drive shall rotate the weapon station
about the weapon station azimuth axis. The elevation drive shall rotate the launcher assembly
about the elevation axis. Control of azimuth and elevation drives shall be provided in the erect
