3.8.2 Marking. Vehicle exterior markings shall be lusterless black color, number 37038 of
FED-STD-595 except for safety markings, and shall conform to MIL-STD-642. Otherwise, the
weapon station shall be marked in accordance with MIL-W-13855. Parts and components shall
be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-130.
3.8.3 Safety markings. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), safety hazard plates and decals
for the vehicle and component assemblies shall be posted in accordance with applicable
drawings.
3.8.4 Name, shipping and service data plates. The plates shall meet the requirements of
MIL-P-5l4, or applicable drawings.
3.9 Workmanship. Workmanship shall be of a quality to assure that the vehicle and its
components are free of defects that compromise, limit or reduce capability in the performance of
its intended use. In addition to general appearance, the defects listed in table IV shall be
considered to be cause for failure. Electric wires and hydraulic lines shall be located in a manner
so as to prevent possible damage by rubbing on adjacent lines or appendages. No workmanship
condition shall exist which may create a safety hazard to operating or maintenance personnel.
3.10 TOW Dismount/remount. The TOW component mounting and storing provisions shall
enable a four man crew to dismount the TOW components, needed for ground deployment,
within 5 minutes for emplacement within 50 meters of the vehicle. The same crew shall mount
TOW components and return the vehicle to a combat ready condition within 5 minutes.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase
order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as
specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor
may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection
requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government
reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such
inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed
requirements.
4.1.1 Materials and qualified products. The contractor's records shall be reviewed to
determine conformance to 3.3, 3.3.1 and 3.3.2.
4.1.2 Parts and components. Parts, components and assemblies shall be inspected for
conformance to requirements of drawings subordinate to 8736977 and applicable specifications
and standards (see 3.4.1, 3.4.2, and 3.4.3). When applicable, inspection shall also be in
accordance with Supplementary Quality Assurance Provisions (SQAPs) or Quality Assurance
Requirements (QARs).
