1/ Speeds shall be varying up to the maximum safe speed in all applicable gear ranges
depending on course and conditions.
2/ Ten percent (10%) of all operation on cross-country courses shall be conducted with
the launcher erected and a vehicle speed not to exceed 5 mph.
4.4.2.3 Reliability verification. To determine conformance to 3.2.1, a point estimate of the
MTBF equal to greater than 180 hours must be demonstrated during the test. The point estimate
will be computed by dividing the total weapon station hours (adjusted to 11.5 hours per mission),
of the ITV undergoing durability testing, by the total cumulative chargeable combat mission
failures.
4.4.2.4 Maintainability verification. To determine conformance to 3.2.2, the point estimate
of the maintenance ratios for the ITV installed on the IPT durability vehicles shall not be greater
than 0.05 for Organizational Maintenance, 0.04 for Direct Support Maintenance, and 0.09 for
Combined Organizational and Direct Support. The maintenance ratio shall be calculated by
dividing the active maintenance man hours (scheduled and unscheduled scored in accordance
with the Improved TOW Vehicle RAM-D Failure Definition and Scoring Criteria experienced on
the kits of these ITV's) for each level of maintenance by the total ITV kit hours, adjusted to
11.5 hours per mission.
4.4.2.5 Failure. Failure of the vehicle attributable to a deficiency in workmanship or
materials during, or as a result of, the test shall be cause for rejection of the vehicle. Further, the
Government may refuse to continue acceptance of production vehicles until evidence has been
provided by the manufacturer that corrective action has been taken to eliminate the cause of the
deficiency. Any deficiency found during or as a result of the test shall be prima facie evidence
that all vehicles already accepted prior to completion of the IPT are similarly deficient unless
evidence satisfactory to the contracting officer is furnished by the contractor that they are not
similarly deficient. Such deficiencies on all vehicles shall be corrected by the contractor at no
cost to the Government.
4.5 M901 System integration break-in. To determine conformance to 3.5, each vehicle shall
be operated for a distance of fifty miles or more on smooth, hard-surfaced roads. A section of
road shall be as shown in figure 1 and shall be traveled at least once every 5 miles. Except for
equipment and component installation, and servicing performed by the contractor as a final
processing of vehicles for acceptance, the vehicles shall be completely assembled. Vehicles
