test. A non-removal, visual inspection shall be made at least every four hours during the test. At
conclusion of test, each assembly shall be thoroughly examined for evidence of structural failure
or excessive wear and subjected to tests of 4.6.1 through 4.6.5.
4.6.7.6.2.1 Control test. Perform the test of 4.6.7.6.2 except that the test duration time for
the random vibration durability test shall be 25 hours (see 6.5).
4.7 Preparation for delivery. Assembly shall be inspected by supplier prior to shipment to
ensure conformance to preservation, packaging, packing and marking requirements in section 5.
Sampling inspections shall be limited to those characteristics that can be determined by visual
examination.
5. PACKAGING
5.1 Preservation, packaging, packing, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, and
marking for the desired level of protection shall be in accordance with the applicable packaging
standard or packaging data sheet specified by the contracting authority (see 6.2).
6. NOTES
6.1 Intended use. The solenoid valve assembly is intended to provide proper oil pressures to
the control valves used in the transmission of the Abrams tank.
6.2 Ordering data. Acquisition documents should specify the following:
a.
Title, number, and date of this specification.
b.
Whether preproduction samples shall be furnished (see 3.1).
c.
Whether initial production units shall not be furnished (see 3.2).
d.
Whether responsibility for inspection equipment shall be other than as specified
(see 4.1.1).
e.  Whether test conditions shall be other than as specified (see 4.3.1).
f.  Whether oil used in bench testing shall be other than as specified (see 4.3.1.3).
g.  Selection of applicable level and packaging standard or packaging data sheet (see 5.1).
6.3 Preproduction. When a preproduction sample inspection is required, the item will be
tested as specified in 4.4.1. The preproduction samples should consist of twenty units. The
contracting officer should include specific instructions in all acquisition documents regarding
arrangements for examination, tests and approval of the preproduction samples (see 3.1).
6.4 Process average. Sampling may be initiated if process average value for the first twenty
assemblies inspected is less than AQL specified in 4.5.2.1 for major and minor defects.
