4.8.2.3 Examination. Samples selected in accordance with 4.8.2.2 shall be examined for the
following defects. AQL shall be 2.5 percent defective.
119. Materials, methods, and containers not as specified for level A or B. Each
incorrect material, method, or container shall be considered one defect.
120. Sectionalization and disassembly not as specified for level A or B.
121. Parts not matchmarked to facilitate reassembly for level A or B.
122. Cloth tags for matchmarking and lubrication information not waterproofed for
level A.
123. Matchmarking and lubrication information tags not attached for level A or B.
124. Unpainted exterior metal surfaces not coated with preservative for level A or B.
125. Semitrailer chassis and dolly components not preserved in accordance with the
referenced document for level A or B.
126. Gears not preserved as specified for level A or B.
127. Drive chains not preserved as specified for level A or B.
128. Drive belts not removed or released from tension for level A or B.
129. Exposed threaded surfaces of loose piping equipment not protected as specified for
level A or B.
130. Openings into electrical components not sealed as specified for level A.
131. Cables not secured on reels for level A or B.
132. Maintenance tools not preserved and packaged in accordance with referenced
document for level A or B.
133. Intermediate packaging not as specified for level A or B.
134. Packaged and unpackaged components secured to the unit interfere with lifting or
towing the plant for level A or C.
135. Strapping not zinc coated for level A.
136. Blocking, bracing, and anchoring not in accordance with the referenced documents
for level A.
137. Marking illegible, incomplete, or incorrect.
5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY
5.1 Preproduction pack. The supplier shall furnish a preproduction pack for examination
and test within the time frame specified (see 6.2) to prove, prior to starting production packaging
and packing, that the applied preservation, packaging, packing and marking comply with the
preparation for delivery requirements of this specification (see 6.7). Examination and tests shall
be those specified herein.
