5.2.1.11.2 Cable reels. Unpainted exterior metal surfaces of the cable reels shall be coated
with type P-1 preservative. The main feeder cables shall be wound on their reels and secured.
5.2.1.11.3 Ground-rod assemblies, clamps and wires. The ground-rod assemblies, clamps,
and wires shall be placed in the container provided.
5.2.1.12 Technical publications. Techanical publications shall be preserved in accordance
with MIL-P-116, method IC-1, and placed in the toolbox.
5.2.1.13 Repair parts. The preservative application criteria and applicable method(s) of
preservation of MIL-P-116 shall be used to preserve repair parts.
5.2.1.14 Maintenance tools. Maintenance tools shall be preserved and packaged in
accordance with the level A requirements of MIL-H-15424 and placed in the toolbox.
5.2.1.15 Intermediate packaging. Packaged and unpackaged components and repair parts
that cannot be secured to the unit or sections shall be intermediate packaged in close-fitting
boxes conforming to PPP-B-621, class 2, style optional; or PPP-B-601, overseas type, style
optional.
5.2.2 Level B. The complete units shall be preserved and packaged as specified for level A,
except as follows.
5.2.2.1 Tags. Cloth tags specified in 5.2.1.2 and 5.2.1.6.2 shall not require waterproofing.
5.2.2.2 Trailer components. The components of the semitrailer chassis and dolly shall be
preserved and packaged in accordance with the level B (mobile) requirements of MIL-STD-281.
5.2.2.3 Exposed chains. Exposed drive chains shall be preserved as specified for level A,
except only type P-3 or P-9 preservative shall be applied.
5.2.2.4 Drive belts. Drive belts shall be released from tension.
5.2.2.5 Electrical component openings. Openings into electrical components specified in
5.2.1.11.1 shall not require sealing with tape.
5.2.2.6 Intermediate packaging. Intermediate packaging shall be as specified for level A,
except boxes shall be domestic type and class as applicable.
