4.6.3.6 Fast Erection Control - For the compass system controller with
the separate fast erection function specified in 3.8.3.3.b connect an
ohmmeter between connector 3J1-12 to 3J1-23.
The resistance shall be
measured for each position of the ERECT switch as follows:
ERECT Switch
Resistance
Depressed
1 ohm maximum
Released
1 megohm minimum
Disconnect all test equipment.
a.
4.6.3.7 Lighting - On production equipment, the following compass system
controller test may be conducted prior to final assembly:
a.  Apply the following ac or dc voltages between connector
3J1-21 and 3J1-22:
4.50 .05V
(1)
DCK-128/A24G
5.0 0.1V
(2)
DCK-129/A24G
(3)
DCK-228/A24G
5.0 O.1V
(4)
DCK-234/A24G
4.50 0.05V
(5)
DCK-235/A24G
5.0 0.1V
(6)
DCK-236/A24G
5.0 0.1V
Brightness and color shall be checked to determine compliance
b.
with 3.8.
When this test is performed under First Article or Sampling
c.
Plan B,  the contrast, stray light, and dial visibility shall meet the
requirements of 3.8.
Remove all test connections.
d.
4.6.3.7.1 Visual Comparison - The prime standard and the compass system
controller under test shall be placed side-by-side at eye level.  The two
instrument panels shall be viewed at a distance of  2 1/2 feet in a
sighting cone 30 from normal to the surface of the panel.  With the
applicable voltage  specified in 3.8 applied to the lighting pins the
overall lighting shall be compared.  With 2.85Vdc applied to the prime
overall standard and the compass system controller under test, the
general overall lighting shall again be compared.  The questionable areas
of production units failing this test shall be measured for color and
brightness as specified in the applicable lighting specification (see
