inflatable canopy and the inflatable floor sections of the LRU-16/P life
raft shall be subjected to the burst strength test described in 4.6.6,1.
The primary bouyancy tube of the LRU-16/P life raft and the primary
buoyancy tube of the LRU-17/P life raft shall be subjected to the burst
strength test described in 4.6.6.2.

4.4.1
First article samples. The first article samples shall consist of
one LRU-16/P life raft, the inflatable canopy and the inflatable floor
sections of one LRU-16/P life raft, and the primary buoyancy tube of one
LRU-16/P life raft or shall consist of one LRU-17/P life raft and the
primary bouyancy tube of one LRU-17/P life raft. The first article
samples shall be representative of the materials and the workmanship to
be used in the production items.
4.4.2
First article report. The data requirements for the first article
inspection shall be as specified vy the procuring activity (see 6.2).
4.5
The quality conformance inspection
Quality conformance inspection.
shall consist of the following:

4.5.1
Individual inspection.
Each life raft shall be subjected to the
following:
Primary buoyancy tube inflation (see 4.6.8)

Leakage (see 4.6.4)
Canopy and floor inflation (see 4.6.5) 1/

Visual examination (see 4.6.1.1].
(d)
1/ The canopy and floor inflation test shall not apply to the LRU-17/P
life raft.
Sampling inspection. The sampling inspection specified for plans C
4.3.2
and D shall be performed by the contractor. The selection of the samples for
plans A and B shall be performed by the contractor. The inspection specified
for plans A and B shall be performed by a commercial laboratory that has been
selected by the procuring activity (see 6.2). The serial numbers of. the life
rafts represented by each sample selected in accordance with plans A and B
shall be furnished to the commercial laboratory by the contractor (see 3.8.1
and 6.2). A lot of life rafts shall not be shipped until after the samples
selected from the lot have been approved and the lot has been accepted by the
procuring activity (see 6.2).
