3.25.6 Oil lubrication.  AU components shall be filled to the operating
level with winter grades of' oils conforming to MIL-L-2104, MIL-L-2105, or
MIL-L-45199 as specified for the application.  A tag shall be attached in a
conspicous place on each unit to indicate the temperature range and grade of
lubricant used.
3.26  Fungus and moisture resistance*  The electrical circuitry, including
all components and connections except as specified below, shall be protected
from the effects of moisture and fungus growth by an overall treatment with
a varnish conforming tO MIL-V-173 except that 1 percent copper-8-quinolinolate
(by weight) based on the nonvolatile content of the varnish shall be used in
lieu of saltcylanilide, the specified fungitoxicant:
(a) Components Or circuit elements which are inherently fungus and
moisture resistant or which are hermetically sealed need not be
treated.
(b) Components or circuit elements hose functions will be adversely
affected by the varnish coating shall not be treated.
When used, the varnish shall be applied by spray, brush, or a combination of
both to give a minimum dry-film thickness of 1 mil to component or element
surfaces which have been previoysly cleaned and prepared so that the surfaces
are free from all foreign matter which would interfere with the adherence or
functioning of the varnish.
3.27 Lifting attachments.  Each unit listed in 3.1 and each sectionalized
component (see 3.7.2 and 3.7.3) shall be provided with lifting attachments.
The attachments shall enable the unit or component to be lifted in its normal
traveling or operating position.  The attachments shall be located so that
not less than l-inch clearance is maintained between the slings and all
exterior parts of the item being lifted. Spreader bars are permitted. Each
attachment shall withstand not less than 2-1/2 times the normal load imposed
on the attachment.  Attachments for multiple slings shall be located so that
the slings will converge not more than 19 feet above the lowest extremity of
the load when such limitation is possible.  Attachments shall be positioned
so that the lifting strain will be in line with the longitudinal axis of the
eye of the attachment.  The inside diameter of the eye shall be not less than
3 inches. Members to which attachments are fastened and the fasteners shall
withstand all stresses imposed by the attachment. Where required, structural
members shall be reinforced to meet the requirements specified herein. Lifting
attachments may also be used as tiedown attachments when such attachments meet
the requirements specified in 3.28.
