MIL-N-81207A(AS)
The pulse pairs shall be randomly spaced at an
average rate of 3,000 pairs per second with a
minimum interval between pairs of 60
microseconds at a level of -20 dBm.  Also,
pulses of 1 microsecond or less paired in
accordance with the spacings, rate, and
distribution given above at a level of -30 dBm.
(In Receive, Transmit-Receive, and Air-to-Air
ranging Modes.)
(3) Synchronous Signals
(a) Synchronous bearing reference bursts
conforming to the main and auxiliary
bursts configuration given in MIL-
STD-291 and locked to the modulation
frequency of the tracked signal but
at a phase angle which differs from
the reference phase of the tracked
signal by 5 to 35 + N 40 (N = any
integer).  Interfering signal level
shall be -80 dBm for the on frequency
case and -20 dBm for the image
frequency case.
Synchronous DME reply.  Early pulses
(b)
on frequency and identical in level
and all other characteristics to the
tracked DME reply, except preceding
it by an interval of 8 to 16 used in
X channel, or 32 to 40 microseconds
in Y channel, at a reply efficiency
of 50% in lieu of and alternating
with the tracked reply (also at 50%
reply efficiency)m  Echo replies
identical in level and all other
characteristics to the tracked DME
reply except following it at an
interval greater than 50
microseconds.
