3.18 Workmanship. The oscillator shall be free of burrs, sharp edges, chips, blisters, corrosion,
scratches, mars, or other defects. The oscillator shall be free of grease, oil, dirt, dust, flux or other
foreign material. The processes of fabrication and testing shall not deteriorate the characteristics or
oscillator performance, material or appearance.
4. VERIFICATION
4.1 Classification of inspection. Inspection shall be classified as follows:
a. First article inspection (see 4.2).
b. Conformance inspection (see 4.3).
4.2 First article inspection. First article inspection shall be performed on sample units which have been
produced with equipment and procedures normally used in production. The manufacturer shall provide
verification to the acquiring activity that the first article inspection has been performed on the samples
supplied to the requirements of this specification.
4.2.1 Sample size. Ten oscillators, high voltage, shall be subjected to first article inspection.
4.2.2 Inspection routine. The samples shall be subjected to the inspections as specified in table II and
4.2.3 Failure. One or more failures of first article examination or tests shall be cause for rejection.
