3.3.7 Provisions for Maintainability - The Maintainability Program,
built-in test equipment features, construction and packaging, provisions for
test points, and other maintainability parameters shall be as specified in
Specification  AR-10.  The following maintainability requirements shall be
considered in the set and component design.
(1) Minimization of the complexity of maintenance tasks (for example:
calibration, adjustments, inspection, etc) by maximum use of a design
which includes optimum interchangeability and use of standardized
equipment or commercial items.
(2) Rapid and positive recognition of equipment malfunction or marginal
performance.
(3) Rapid and positive identification of the replaceable defective part,
assembly or component.
(4) Minimum numbers and types of tools and test equipment needed to perform
maintenance.
(5) Optimum accessibility in all systems, equipments, and components
requiring maintenance, inspections, removal or replacement.
3.3.7.1 Maintenance  Procedures - When specified by the contract, the
contractor shall establish a complete maintenance procedure which shall be
submitted to the procuring activity for approval at the time specified in the
contract.  Maintainability provisions shall conform to the requirements of
MIL-STD-470.
3.3.7.1.1 Maintainability Prediction Reports - When specified by the
contract, the contractor shall prepare maintainability prediction reports in
accordance with AR-10.
3.3.7.1.2 Compatibility with VAST - The equipment shall be compatible with
the Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and shall meet the requirements of MIL-STD-
2076(AS).  When required Test Program Sets shall be furnished in accordance with
If Test Program Sets exist for the equipment, and changes to
MIL-STD-2077(AS).

3.3.8 Nomenclature, Nameplates and Identification Marking - Nomenclature
and serial number assignment, nameplate approval and identification marking
shall be in accordance with Specification MIL-N-18307.
3.3.9 Standard Conditions - The following conditions shall be used to
establish normal performance characteristics under standard conditions and for
making bench tests.
